I will admit, I am a newbie to the “Blogosphere” as it’s nicknamed, but I am no stranger to the web world. I have been building websites for almost 10 years now. I have seen a lot of things. I have seen evil people, I have seen great people. One thing maintains a constant. When money is behind the true, unwritten intentions, it gets ugly. Money makes the nicest folks evil. I can understand this to a point. I rely on the income form my sites to keep them running too. But I do it in an ethical manner. I have rarely solicited advertisements. I maintain clean, flame free websites that are attractive to folks eager to learn without the fear of being called names and ridiculed for asking “The Same Old Question”. I try to keep the bullshit behind the scenes like they should be. I rarely make a post like this on any of my sites, even my “Personal Blog”. The only really outspoken thing I have ever done was when I called out HP for their overbearing NDA attempt.Â
Notable bloggers, meaning ones that people care to read about, have a nice 95% good and possibly 5% negative posting track record. Some outspoken bloggers take some attack methods to their blogs a little more, but for the most part, blogs that people read frequently are about sharing and exploration. In the tech blogger scene, it’s about the same. Most like to share.
Personal Blogs seem to be a place where folks share their travels, family pics, cool stuff they’ve done, etc… I am going after that mold myself. Like I said in my opening post here in August, I plan to share things with friends, family, and foes alike. A little of this, a little of that, some personal issue, sports rants, my gadgets, etc… I think this is a fun thing to do, even if nobody is watching.
On another side of the blogging world is what I like to call hate bloggers. Hate bloggers (this may already be a term) seem to try to post negativity and attacks on others in effort to accomplish one or more of the following:
We have one of these type bloggers across the ocean from the USA. He doesn’t mask his attacks, he uses names and cites examples (Sometimes). He goes after Microsoft MVPs and others. Others are catching on though. More sites emulating his style are popping up here and there.
There is one person that used to annoy me that has such a site now. This guy used to bother me, but I’ve learned that wasting energy on him is like pissing into the wind. It’s a mirror image in style to his overseas counterpart without the overseas culture. I have had some folks point out some of this guys blog posts and it’s pretty damn funny. There is about a 5:1 ratio between attacks on companies and individuals and the “oh, I am such a good person” posts in attempt to negate the negative image airing dirty laundry casts on ones self. It’s pretty laughable though. The majority of the attacks result in this person ranting, a couple helpers agreeing with him, a logical reversal in opinion, and who knows what never makes it to print. The guy is seriously making himself look like a tool.
Hate blogs are like a train wreck, they are unfortunate, but its hard to keep from staring. I watch them too. I am human. I will not publicly air any of these sites I refer to, since this should be kept out of the eyes of those that could care less. If anyone is truly interested in knowing a couple of these train wreck, hate blogs, shoot me an email and I will share.
