That’s all I have to say about that. Tell me where and how much and I am all over this beast!

Last night and most likely tonight was spent getting in gear. A couple weeks ago, I finally decided to put Vista Ultimate on my main PC. This box is a 3.4g P4 with 2g of RAM. Vista went on smooth and ran pretty smooth! That wasn’t enough though, I decided to purchase a new box to be my main machine and make the machine I replaced my audio machine. Now it’s just there to control my mixing board, using skype, and playing the guitar through the mixer.
Last night was not fun. I got this new Dell XPS 410 machine with a 64bit Dual Core Processor, 2gb RAM, a dual 250g RAID set up, and more bells and whistles than I need. No, I couldn’t wait another week to order and get Vista already installed, I had to have it now. I pulled it all out of the box, cleaned up my desk, and set her up. With XP, this system had smoke going from the tires. It is that fast. I spent about an hour back and forth trying to decide if I was going to install Vista 32bit or 64bit. I finally decided on 32 bit.
I start on the installation of Vista Ultimate and immediately hit a road block. Vista would not install to the primary partition. I am banging my head convinced that its a Raid Controller driver issue. I decided to call Dell’s Tech Support. After a 30 minute wait, I got a tech. I go to take him off speakerphone and… oops, wrong button. I call back, 30 minutes more and I got another tech. After 10 minutes of discussion on how I happen to have Vista and Office Ultimate 2007 already, we get started.
The 1st thing he asked is what all was connected. I told him it was just the monitor, speakers, mouse, and keyboard. I didn’t mention my exteral USB hard drive. I forgot all about it. Well, when I disconnected the speakers to be sure, I also disconnected the hard drive. I go on for about 5 minutes explaining the trouble. When I got to the point of failure, I tell him that I am going to click to get the error message. I think you know what happens next. No trouble now… Must have been that damn USB Hard Drive. 1.5 Hours wasted.
The next 3-4 hours were spent gathering drivers, installing software, etc… I got nothing good accomplished last night.
Tonight, I plan to get all the audio bugs I have taken care of. I hope to “not” waste the entire night on this.
Here are a couple items I posted on Vista 2 weeks ago, more will come soon!

I heard about this the other day. As I was reading my RSS feeds over a nice glass of water, I saw it again mentioned on Calacanis and Scobles blog. Jason is calling for others to let the world know how backwards Georgia is in this case. Being from Alabama, I already knew that! I know I have at least one reader in Georgia and she has kids (a few teen boys if I remember correctly). I am sure she would find this quite rediculous.
You see Genarlow Wilson has been sentanced to jail in Georgia for 10 years and will be labeled a child molestor forever. The problem is that he too was a child when he had consentual oral sex with a 15 year old. He was 17 at the time. Now he is 20 with the rest of his younger years to be spent behind bars. In addition, he’s a child molestor now.
If he stays in jail, gets out around 30 and goes about his life, he is still going to carry a public tag of Child Molestor. Do you think his new neighbors are going to give him the time to explain why he has that label? Nope, not in the south!
I am not condoning his actions of premartial sex, but come on, let’s get serious here. It happens every single day.
A commenter on Mark Cuban’s (Dallas Mavs Owner that has brought this into the blogosphere) blog suggested that the Mavs forfeit their next game against the Atlanta Hawks in protest. I doubt that would be feasable, but as Calacanis suggests, an armband or something to show support of Genarlow. I do like the forfeit idea though, maybe Atlanta can get out with a win somehow. Yes, they could lose a forfeit. They are that bad. I am a Hawks fan! They are miserable!
Anyhow, whatever you can do to spread the word. Call the State of Georgia, tell a friend, post about it somewhere. Let’s tell them how jacked up this is.
