CES Wrap Up / Joining the Social - Day 2

OK, Tuesday… We are getting close to exhaustion now, or least I am. Ok, Nevermind, we were ALL EXHAUSTED by this point. I skipped an early Press Release Breakfast to sleep in a tad. I woke up at 9am. I got a little work done and left the room with just enough time to get over to the Sands for a 10:30am meeting with OQO. This was a <Start Jim Rome’s voice> Great, Great Meeting. It was HUGE. </end Jim Rome’s voice> We were given a thorough overview of the newest OQO. (you can check out the video)

Now, Jack and I were free for an hour and headed over to the Grand Luxor Cafe for lunch. I had a tasty Jambalaya and Jack had boring old Chicken Salad. At 12:30pm, we headed back down to the meeting rooms for a rescheduled HTC meeting. I can’t talk about anything related to this. :(

After this meeting, Jack and I decided to go separate ways since we had different dinner plans. Mine were with Palm at the Diego at the MGM Grand. Before I headed over, I took a girly bath with 100% hot water and “bath beads”. It sounds girly, but it sure took the edge off, I almost fell asleep in there. I hopped in the cab and headed over to the Grand. I arrived 45 Min early, so I hit the slots to win a .999% Silver Souvenir Coin. I won, cashed out and ran into Julie from the Gadgeteer. We walked to Diego’s together. She shared her problems and frustrations with the Palm Treo 750. How ironic since we were on our way to an exclusive dinner with Palm. The dinner guests included myself, 11 other website folks, 3 Palm Product Managers, 2 Palm PR Folks, and a rep from Palm’s PR Agency. This was a “no agenda” dinner. The sad thing is that the conversation was about the iPhone and the BlackJack more than the Palms… haha… we did get to have some super dialog with the Product Manager’s. One of them was the lead for the 750 launch and one was the 680 manager.

One problem with this Palm Dinner was that it was the same time as the Mobius Group meetup. Jason Dunn and I decided to leave the Palm dinner after 2 hours (1 hour before the rest) and headed over to the Mobius Event at the Bellagio. We were greeted by some of our buddies! Tong, Lisa Gade, Howard Chui, Hal Goldstien, Jason Gordon, Judie Hughes, Matt Miller, and Todd Achilles, VP of Marketing HTC. We hung out about an hour before it broke up.

Jason Dunn, Matt Miller, Judie Hughes and I headed over to the Venetian for the Zune Party ( A party that was scheduled from 12am - 3am ) We didn’t ever go in, we ended up calling it a night due to exhaustion, not to mentioned the party was in another loud, high class, night club. You can’t really socialize in that enviorment, not to mention it being a tad boring if you don’t drink.

I walked Judie to a cab stand and walked over to my Hotel, Harrah’s. I am weak. I decided to hit the tables again. I walked away with 2 purple chips and a $600 voucher. I got to bed at 2am, I skipped the work thing this night.

One note : Tong, Judie, Matt and I held a Zune Squirting party at the Mobius Event. Based on our experiences, I need to get in touch with my Zune contact to make some complaints! You see, all 4 of us have current subscriptions to the all you can eat Zune service and we had failed squirts. Error Message : “Can not receive songs because of rights restrictions” DOH….
