I finished up the Part 1 with some photos of some of the cooler products I saw on this day, but I don’t want to just bore you with sub par photos. My camera lost it’s macros I had built for some situations and I used the “default” settings, so many of them look like crap. I am buying a new camera before the OQO 2… So anyhow, click here to see the Day 2 and 3 Flickr Gallery. There was not much new that was cool enough to cover this year. Most of the cool stuff I saw this week can’t be discussed. There are some really exciting products that will roll out this year though, a couple things I saw may be seen as early as February at a big show in Barcelona.
I did the floor mainly in the morning and right after lunch, Steven Hughes got back from Redmond and hit the floor with me and we finished out my desired visits on the floor. We hit the monorail and met Jack at my hotel. Once we all sat down, it was tough to get up. We headed over to Caesar’s Palace for Jack to put something in his rental and we went in search of food.

I planned on paying for dinner anyhow, but the dinner was paid by another stroke of gambler’s luck. You see, I had $25 in Caesar’s chips in my room and picked them up before we left so I didn’t carry live chips home if I didn’t make it back to Caesar’s. I was going to take them to the cash cage to get my little $25 spot, but it was far enough away that my feet asked me to just waste them somewhere and go eat. I passed by one of those money sinks where you place a bet on a number, they spin the wheel and you have to hit the number to get a win. I put the chips on a 20:1 odds number and what do you know, it hit the number… too funny, that paid for our dinner just fine. We had a great meal.
After the meal, we headed over to the Bellagio to visit Bloghaus. This was the blogger’s paradise and they almost didn’t let us in because of the fire code. There were geeky bloggers rapping on the microphone, bloggers blogging, bloggers playing video games, and bloggers drunk over there. COOL! It was too hot and too crowded, so we bailed shortly after. I had a little chat with Andru Edwards from Gearlive and had one of my Aximsite members come up to say hi as well. JimCanuck has been a member of Aximsite for more than 2 years. It was a pleasure to meet a member in a chance meeting. (Met one on the plane too)

We called it a night fairly early, I shared my room with Steven so he didn’t have to pay for extra nights in his hotel while he was in Redmond, so we headed up and worked too long, then off to bed.
Steven got up and headed to the Microsoft booth he was working and I checked out to head on home… There is no day 4 posting since all it was for me was travel, etc… I am home now, exhausted and almost ready to hit the sack. A couple more posts to make 1st though…
Conclusion
CES is always a good time. This year was weak in the buzz department, but the networking makes this always worthwhile. I’ll probably be spending more time at CTIA events in the future than CES though. In case you are wondering, I chose the tagline, “Joining the Social” because it’s a) fitting and b) Zune’s tagline.
Run down of the other posts…
