If you recall a couple weeks ago, I was furious at Canada Post for refusing shipment of an HTC Advantage into Canada. After more than 2 hours of phone calls, I found out why it was refused. Apparently something labeled as gift over a certain dollar amount requires additional paperwork.
I sent this contest prize to Wes on January 7th 2008. A couple weeks later, we realized it had not made it. As I said in that earlier post, they told me it might take some time to get back to me. It did, it took over 2 weeks. I finally got it back last week.
Even though this was an error by our USPS, I decided to bite the $30 shipping and try out Fed Ex. Well, I got it all packed up, paperwork complete, just to find out that Fed Ex wanted to charge $85. WOW… $85 + $30 = too much money for giving someone a free device. I then took everything to the US Post Office again and showed them the error in their ways… They shipped it again free. Let’s cross our fingers.
Let me know when it gets there Wes. I will get the tracking number to you tonight.
