Incoherent ramblings from a redneck tech geek

I am using the Zune 80 with 3.0 Now

After getting a chance to play with 3.0 aka the Fall Release at a Microsoft pow wow a couple weeks ago, I finally got around to updating my own Zune. 3.0 has been out for almost 2 weeks and I have just been lazy.

So far I like what I see. I just don’t feel like blogging on GotZune about it.

I gotta get this! Wii Boxing Gloves.

My son will absolutely love these. I think I might too! I would post this over at Mobilitysite, but trying to stay on topic over there. :)

Seriously. I do think I am gonna grab these. It’s not just me wanting to post the girl pic above, honest. They need to make a game for the Wii that lets my son practice his Taekwondo too. He loves boxing on Wii Sports though.

No more short trips for Microsoft…

This is the last one. I can’t take it anymore. I left early AM Sunday and I am in a Town car right now on the last 1 hour of a short trip. Why am I done? Well, I am freaking exhausted. I left Seattle at 5am this morning, United Airlines threw us in a plane from Chicago to Birmingham without air conditioning, and did I mention I am exhausted?

Was the info I was presented in Redmond worth the trip. Yes and no. Yes, it was great info and I appreciate the opportunity to learn and provide input, but not worth the 2 day trip. I won’t be doing it again.

I also won’t be traveling United Airlines ever again. They are pathetic. 45 Minutes late leaving Sunday morning without anyone telling us what was happening. I had to sprint from terminal to terminal in Chicago to make my connecting flight by 1 whole minute. Luggage issues in Seattle, not to mention $40 to check in luggage now. Topping it all off, no AC on a 1:40 min flight.

Microsoft’s New Ad Campaign

There is a ton of critisism all over the net this morning about the 1st in a series of new Microsoft commercials. Are we all this bored. WHO CARES WHAT THEY TALK ABOUT. THE F’ING COMMERCIAL WAS FUNNY. Microsoft doesn’t have to pitch a product, everyone already knows what MS is selling.

Engadget has posted a link to a letter explaining the ad campaign too. It’s got a progression theme.

Twitter Smitter - Piss on it, i’m done

Back in March 2007, I resisted the urge to go with the flow and try out Twitter. About 6-7 months ago, I decided to finally give it a try. It was kind of neat. Time went on and I rarely used it. Not too long ago, I got a kick to really try it out and actually did real good keeping up with folks, communicating, and enjoying random crap that people had to say. Last month, I realized I was spending a lot of wasted time refreshing twitterific, etc… I slowed down my reading and posting. Now, a couple weeks later, I feel that my productivity has improved.

I don’t miss anything about Twitter really. One cool thing about Twitter is the chance to follow your favorite sites via Twitter. (Mobilitysite has a Twitter Account too) The thing is, I read RSS Feeds on/off all day. I don’t need Twitter to tell me someone posted a story.

As for following friends and family. They know my phone number, email address, etc… They can call, text, email, pm, or whatever me whenever they want.

Thanks for following me if you did. Peace. Posts to this blog WILL REMAIN as sporatic as they have been this last year. I might throw a new look at it this week though.

Facebook? I’ll get on there every once in a while.

Missing CTIA for the 3rd Strait Time…

I wanted to go, but I have to be in Seattle Monday and Tuesday so things aren’t going to work out. I guess I’ll have to hit CES this year to make up for it.

Oh well…

I am looking to get a new Desktop. Any opinions?

Guardian_170x170 Ok, not really Mobility related, but it’s time for me to replace my aging Dell XPS with something cutting edge, again. I know with Alienware and XPS, you are really paying for a name, then quality gear. I know I could hit newegg and put one together for cheaper than going through a company, but I don’t have to time to really spend on that. I have decided to buy a ready made, top of the line video superstar box. I have narrowed the choices of companies down to CyberPowerPC and iBuyPower.com. They might be the same company for all I know, but I like what i’ve seen for the price at these two. I was looking into the VooDoo from HP, but the sales rep said they won’t be shipping until October.

What do I need?
Well, I like to go top end and ride that machine out a year or two, so keep that in mind. My price limit is $3200. I plan to do lots of video processing, some video game play, and lots of photoshop and such. I want more machine than I need really. Here is what I am thinking so far…
